Professor Jennifer Parker is an artist and founding Director of UCSC OpenLab Collaborative Research Center, where she maintains a multifaceted art practice at the intersection of art and science. Jennifer is a founding member of The Algae Society: Bio Art and Design Collective – a global collective of interdisciplinary researchers working together to establish a new community with algae as a non-human international research partner. Jennifer served as principle faculty for the Digital Arts & New Media (DANM) MFA program where she directed the Mechatronics Collaborative Research Cohort from 2009-2015, developing research projects that combine art, design, science, and technology. She serves on the faculty advisory board for UCSC CITRIS and is an active board member for SOUNDWAVE, a San Francisco-based non-profit arts organization that creates meaningful, cutting edge art and music experiences through the activation of people, places, and environments in the San Francisco Bay Area.
