Expert Consultants
As part of our program, BDC matches classrooms with expert consultants to guide, advise, and provide resources to students as they develop their projects.
Consultants may come from vastly different academic backgrounds, such as synthetic biology, industrial design, ethics, and other relevant areas of research.
They teach students about potential problem areas that biology, art, and design may address; point out pitfalls of designing with living systems; and assess the feasibility of student projects.
Consultants in the past have visited classrooms at the beginning of the semester to offer their expertise as students brainstorm, given teams feedback on their projects throughout the development process, and joined the class for end-of-semester critiques to help determine the classroom’s BDC Summit finalist.
