Mirage: Eco Solutions from Marble Remnants

Outstanding Digital Submission Winner

Divyansh Jain, Prakriti, Raghav Modi, Vedangi Rane

Mirage repurposes marble slurry by exploring novel applications that consider its environmental and biological implications. In Kishangarh, Rajasthan, the team aims to extend the life of pre-consumer marble waste and transform it by leveraging its exceptional heat resistance properties and strength. By focusing on the material's inherent passive cooling properties, the design ensures the raw waste material can be re-integrated into the local context, promoting a circular process and encouraging hyperlocal production jobs.

Reimagining Wound Care for Strays

Teesaa Soni, Sana Chadda, Pranati Yadav, Yash Yadav

Despite the intentions of humans to be compassionate, challenges often arise, leading to high costs or the use of human medicines for India's stray animals injured by passing cars or fights. This project provides a solution integrating a novel medicinal film with a bamboo fiber gauge. This dressing combines eleven natural compounds, including turmeric, neem, and aloe vera, known for their healing properties. The film promotes rapid recovery by creating an optimal environment for wound healing, reducing infection risks, and enhancing the durability of the dressing. The design simplifies the traditional multi-step wound care process into a single, easy-to-apply solution. The bamboo fiber gauge, chosen for its natural antimicrobial properties, ensures longer-lasting protection. The dressing features a replaceable gel film using a flap, allowing quick and efficient re-dressing. Packaged in bioplastic and one-ply cardboard, the intervention caters to various animal sizes. This project not only innovates wound care but also embodies a mission to alleviate the suffering of vulnerable strays, fostering a future where compassion and effective care are accessible to all.
