MOOV

MOOV is a didactic toy designed to be impactful for a child's development between the ages of 2-6. It is designed from a biodegradable, non-toxic polymer known as PHB. This bioplastic was extracted and analyzed in ITESM’s labs as an alternative to other types of plastics in the manufacture of their product.

 

Corium

Corium is a vegan biodegradable leather made from Brewer malt residue for the production of luxury brand products.


Instructors 2024

Maritza Alonzo Macías has a bachelor's degree in Biochemical Engineering, master's degree in Food Science and Technology, and a Ph.D. in Bioprocess Engineering from La Rochelle Univesity and Tecnologico de Monterrey. She also had a Postdoctoral Research Scientist position at Instituto Politecnico Nacional. Maritza is a professor-researcher at Tecnologico de Monterrey and has been the Biotechnology Program Director since 2022. Her research is focused on bioprocess applied to food drying and extraction of biomolecules. She is an expert in using emerging technologies such as Instant Controlled Pressure Drop (DIC). Maritza is a core researcher of the Biointensification Lab at the Bioengineering Department.

 

Mariana Maya holds a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, a Master's in Visual Studies, and a specialization in Strategic Design. She has previously taught Strategic Design and Design for Social Innovation. Currently, she serves as the Director of the Design Program at ITESM, Campus Querétaro, where she teaches courses in Experience Design, Innovation and Design, and Industrial Design Futures. She is currently engaged in developing the Circularity Laboratory, exploring the optimal avenues for designing responsibly. Her ongoing quest for spaces where design can serve due to its transformative potential is the driving force behind co-generating value for individuals and their environment."
