BDC 2017 Schools Announced at Biofabricate

Dear Friends,

We had an amazing first year of the Biodesign Challenge. The BDC 2016 Summit saw nine teams from across the United States present at the Museum of Modern Art in June. Their projects have since been touring in galleries all around the world. We’re now very excited to announce the universities participating in Biodesign Challenge 2017.  

This coming January, 22 schools and 24 classrooms will explore the convergence of biotechnology, art and design. Our program will not only double in size, but will also expand to include schools from Canada, Colombia, Germany, Guatemala, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. We’re thrilled to bring BDC to an international audience.

We created the BDC because the majority of applications for biotechnology have yet to be discovered, and we firmly believe that students, working under the guidance of scientists, artists, and designers, will show us the way forward with their visions.

Biofabricate

Today Program Director Daniel Grushkin announced BDC 2017’s participating schools at Biofabricate, the industry conference on biodesign and BDC partner.

At the conference, BDC 2016 student teams Bioesters (Fashion Institute of Technology) and Starter Culture (Maryland Institute College of Art) showcased their work to an audience from science, industry, and design. Check out Biofabricate.co for details.
