Top 8 Team
Anna Shi, Alegria Rohlfs, Touline Erfan, Sara Fraser
Kelserra is a biomimetic surgical adhesive inspired by the adhesion mechanism used by brown algae (Fucus serratus) in the wild. The team developed a Kelserra formula that maximized wet adhesion strength, minimized curing time, and maintained biocompatibility to decrease surgery time and improve patient outcomes compared to current internal wound closure methods in minimally invasive gynecological surgery such as endometriosis laparoscopy.
Instructors 2024
McGill is a student-led team led by Charlotte Volk and Lan Anh Hyunh with Dr. Allen Ehrlicher as the faculty advisor.
advisors 2024
Dr. Allen Ehrlicher’s lab studies biological mechanics, endeavoring to understand how biology generates, withstands, and responds to forces, with applications ranging from medicine to bioinspired composite materials.
