Proofed tackled the issue of PFA’s being used for waterproofing purposes by creating an alternative coating using natural waxes and oils.

This project created a range of non-toxic beauty products from food waste focusing on local supply chains and biodegradable ingredients.

 
 
 

An Alternative to Cotton

This project responded to the harmful effects of cotton cultivation by creating an alternative fabric made of food waste from celery, oranges, and persimmons.

Evelyn Rynkiewicz

Evelyn Rynkiewicz (PhD) is an Assistant Professor of Ecology at FIT. Before coming to FIT, she earned her PhD from Indiana University and subsequently conducted research as a postdoctoral research scientist at the University of Edinburgh (National Science Foundation Postdoctoral Research Fellow) and Columbia University. At FIT, Evie teaches classes in ecology and biology. Her overall goal is to increase science literacy among non-science majors.
