Mushmellow

Mushmellow is a mycelium-based educational kit for growing and crafting indoor shoes, which are common in Korean culture. The kit serves as a means to provide a hands-on experience and teach biodesign and sustainability to new audiences.
Ouch! Sea Urchin Skin

Ouch! utilizes discarded sea urchins to create an artificial skin from their marine collagen. The collagen is used as a bio-ink for 3D printing various medical applications.
Eco-Saving Fashion Products Using Jellyfish & Shells

This project proposes using the large quantities of jellyfish and shell waste found around Busan Beach to develop a new material to replace plastic. This material combines calcium carbonate and collagen to replace plastic and fabric fashion items.
JeWa Bag

JeWa Bag (Jellyfish Waste Bag) is an eco-friendly bag that uses the protein of dead jellyfish for the bio-strings that make up the bag. The bag uses existing plastic and jellyfish waste for a sustainable alternative to single-use plastic bags.
Tangle

Tangle utilizes pet hair waste as a scrubber for removing oil residue from dishes and containers. The project addresses the issues that oil can cause to household drains as well as the pollution that can result from excessive use of kitchen detergent.
Green Crush

Green Crush is a board game made entirely of recycled materials encouraging players to have more awareness of sustainability and connection to the environment.
Instructors 2023
Yong-Ki Lee is the Director of the Service Design for Good (SD4G) Research Lab and Assistant Professor at the Graduate School of Design at Dongseo University. He has earned his M.S. in Communication Design at the Köln International School of Design (KISD) and his Ph.D. in UX Design at the Department of Industrial Design, KAIST. His current research interests are Service Design, Social Innovation, and Design Thinking.
Dong-Won Kim is a Professor and the Director of the Skin Regeneration lab at Dongseo University. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biological Engineering from Korea University, a Master of Biochemistry from Yonsei University, and a Ph.D. in cytogenetics from Pennsylvania State University. After completing his education, Kim worked as a researcher at Peptron Co., Ltd. and underwent a post-doctoral course in dermatology at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. His recent research activities include a stem cell clinical trial for enhancing prosthetic use and a study on the mechanism of TLR3 activation on biosynthesis and tissue regeneration of exosomes with a focus on skin regeneration and stem cell research.
Shin Hye-Kyung is an associate professor of Fashion Design, holding a Bachelor of Science from Ewha Womans University, a Master's from the Graduate School of Ewha Womans University, and a Doctorate from the Graduate School of Yeungnam University. Her research interests include emotional character design in fashion jewelry branding and the development of fitness suit designs based on MBTI personality types after completing her Ph.D. With her passion for exploring the intersection of fashion and psychology, Shin Hye-Kyung is a prominent figure in Korean fashion design research.
Roofia Farheen is a Master's student and student researcher at Dongseo University. She has an undergraduate degree in Product Design. Her research interests are sustainability, sustainable materials, Bio Material, and sustainability in fashion and the textile industry.
Mentors 2023
Hoyong Kang is an adjunct professor and a member of Global Entrepreneurship Research Lab at Dongseo University. He holds a B.E. in Chemical Engineering at KAIST. In recognition of his startup experience, he has been appointed as a mentor of major startup accelerating programs in Korea, mentoring over 100+ startups. As a CEO, he is now running a global marketing agency Undernamu Corp. to help startups grow. Dan-ha Kim is a CEO and fashion designer, known for her innovative and sustainable approach in the fashion industry. She holds a graduate degree in Costumes from Sungkyunkwan University and has completed programs at the Royal Clothing Research Institute and the Korea Art Association's Landscape Master's Academy. Dan-ha has showcased her designs at the Paris Fashion Week and Vancouver Fashion Week and has collaborated with brands like LG Household & Health Care and LG U+ to merge fashion and technology. Her designs have been featured in music videos, exhibitions, and media publications such as VOGUE and Love Seoul. With a focus on sustainability and upcycling, her brand, DANHA, is committed to ethical and eco-friendly fashion practices that make her a leader in promoting Korean fashion globally. https://en.danhaseoul.com/
