Keel Labs and Mr. Bailey Debut the Starboard Vest

Keel Labs and Mr. Bailey have collaborated to create the Starboard Vest out of Keel Lab’s Kelsun Fibers which are formulated out of seaweed.

Mr Bailey is a renowned product designer and founder of CONCEPTKICKS whose designs draw inspiration from natural cycles and marine life.

The vest pays homage to marine vessels and due to its unique trupunto knit layers, can be inflated to resemble a life jacket. This intriguing concept was driven by the mutual desire to incorporate biomimicry into a product and amalgamated Keel Labs' mission to create sustainable textiles with themes of marine life cycles that are prevalent in Mr. Bailey’s works. Mr Bailey expressed that the collaboration was enlightening and was grateful for the chance to work with this material and explore its potential.
