Biodesign Challenge projects reached new audiences around the world. Here's where they headed in 2020:
Tômtex (2020) won the Surface Design Award, Techstyle Grand Prize from the Mills Fabrica, the CFDA Design Scholar Award, and was featured in Dezeen.
Living Pod (2020) was featured on ABC 7 Bay Area News.
MyCo Domicilia (2020) published their DIY mycelium materials Recipe Book.
Microbial Memories (2020), Tômtex (2020), and Algiknit (2016) presented at this year's Shanghai Fashion Week.
Olombria (2017) won the Technology Research Award at Innovator Capital's CleanEquity Monaco 2020.
Werewool (2018) won €250,000 for H&M's Global Change Award, and was a finalist for the Ray of Hope Prize.

THE BDC summit GOES online in 2020!
While we met virtually for the Summit, we had more participants than ever: 42 schools, 12 countries, and 6 continents. Over 6,500 people watched the BDC Summit online.
BDC LAUNCHES Biodesigned!
Biodesigned is our online magazine featuring interdisciplinary voices from art, design, science, and technology. It’s a place for readers to learn more about the emerging discipline of biodesign. Check out bimonthly essays that tell the stories and journeys of pioneers in our community.
BDC KICKS OFF THE EUROPEAN bioDESIGN HUB
We launched the European Biodesign Hub in partnership with the Hub for Biotechnology in the Built Environment. The Hub is a place to bring together regional practitioners, research institutions, and students to explore and share resources with each other. More regional hubs are coming soon!
BDC CREATES BIODESIGN WORKING GROUP
We partnered with Cumulus Association to launch the Biodesign Working Group. Together we issued our first call for papers to explore and build the field of biodesign.
BDC RETURNs TO NEW INC!
We returned to NEW INC, our home away from home, in New York City. NEW INC continues to support a diverse range of creative practitioners with a values-driven program and space for gathering and developing new creative projects.
