Tenochtitlan

Tenochtitlan is a 3D printed ceramic sculpture within a communal urban garden where forms of ancestral knowledge can be passed down and practiced.

Set in the Central de Abastos market in Mexico City, this project created a certification system for disposing of organic waste streams.
Kiki
Kiki provides an environmentally-friendly alternative to the sponge commonly used by drag queens to create the look of hips and thighs, colloquially known as “chuckys” in Spanish and “padding” in English. The team keeps the safety of both the planet and the user at the forefront. Presentation can be found here.

This project seeks to create a more thoughtful relationship between customers and their coffee waste by turning it into an industrial material.
Yelimiki

Inspired by the Mesoamerican agricultural technique of the Chinampa, Yelimiki seeks to redesign modern hydroponics using modular units.
Instructors 2022
Sergio Dávila
Sergio Dávila is a professor, researcher, and industrial designer convinced that design can have a positive impact on the evolution of our society. He studied his bachelor's degree in Mexico and received a combined master's degree from Finland and the Netherlands. He has presented his work at Design Week in Milan, design museums in Helsinki and Amsterdam, Dutch Design Week, and FORMA Biennial in Cuba. He was an invited panelist at Seattle Design Fest 2017 and 2018. His research is focused on social activation, integral design, and transitional design. Until 2021 he coordinated the Bachelor of Industrial Design, making major updates to the curriculum and driving student talent to international stages and competitions.
Marco Ferruzca
Marco Ferruzca is a Research Professor at UAM-Azcapotzalco, where he has held various management positions. He has a bachelor degree of Indistrual Design and a PhD in Multimedia Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. He is a member of the National System of Researchers of the National Council of Science and Technology in Mexico. Marco has more than 15 years of professional and research experience in the design, development, and exploitation of multimedia spaces. He has published investigative articles in different national and international media. His research activity is focused on design and innovation of products and services.
