With a background in mechanical engineering, Horia Roman received his PhD in 2014 from McGill University, successfully graduating from the BioMedical Engineering program by studying the influence of regulatory proteins on smooth muscle kinetics at the molecular level. In 2017 Horia accepted the position of Teaching Lab Coordinator in the recently created Department of Bioengineering at McGill University. There, he had the opportunity to set the basis for students to acquire practical engineering experience by elaborating laboratory protocols, supervising hands-on activity, and participating in the purchase of required instruments and equipment. A licensed engineer, Horia is assisting the department professors in delivering three courses, during which multiple biotechniques are presented and students are guided to choose suitable solutions and designs to answer industry challenges in a rapidly evolving field.
